Get to know your Vetted Skin & Grooming Kit

Welcome to your vetted SKIN AND GROOMING kit!

Welcome to your Vetted Skin and Grooming Kit! Our team at Vetted knows that maintaining your dog’s skin and coat health is about much more than just helping them look their best. The skin and fur on your dog’s body serves as the ultimate shield of protection, and we want to offer you the tools needed to keep this shield as strong and healthy as possible!

A well rounded grooming routine is not only essential for keeping their skin and coat as healthy as possible, but it can also prevent any discomfort that comes along with skin inflammation or damage. You’d be surprised by just how many environmental factors can irritate your little one’s skin, which is why we created a kit filled with our favorite grooming products.

Our team at Vetted wants you to feel confident with each use of your skin and grooming kit, so let’s break down each of the items in your kit below!

CBD & Hemp Dog Shampoo

What is it?
Your little one’s skin contains sebaceous glands that are responsible for producing something called sebum. Sebum is what keeps your dog’s skin moisturized and their coat shiny, but sometimes these glands need a bit of extra support. If these glands are not creating enough sebum to maintain adequate skin and coat health, your little one may begin to experience dry skin, itching, and even a decrease in skin immunity.

Not only can a lack of sebum cause skin irritation, but it can also put your dog at risk of falling victim to fungal and bacterial skin infections. This is where your CBD and Hemp Dog Shampoo comes in to save the day! CBD and hemp can team up with the glands to promote adequate sebum production, as well as helping to soothe any skin inflammation your dog is experiencing.

How to use it?
Every dog will vary on how often they will need to be bathed, but we suggest starting with one bath per month. You can increase this amount to twice per month if your little one struggles with skin irritation, as well as if they are adventurous pups that like to get dirty. All you have to do is wet your little one thoroughly with lukewarm water, and then add enough shampoo to generate a thick lather. We suggest rubbing the shampoo into their fur for about 2 minutes, and following this with a rinse and towel drying.

If your little one struggles with skin infections or allergies, please reach out to us on the 24/7 vet pro chat. We can help guide you to products that support dogs that are allergy prone and need particular support with skin conditions.

Omega 3 Soft Gels

What is it?
The omega 3 supplements are packed with an array of health bonuses for your little one. Omega 3 supplements contain natural fish oils that help to lubricate your dog’s skin, which in turn keeps their skin and coat hydrated. A well hydrated coat is not only beautiful and shiny, but it means that their skin is also comfortable and irritation free!

In addition to the benefits an omega 3 supplement offers your dog’s skin, these impressive soft gels can target inflammation throughout the body as well. The omega soft gels in your kit can promote joint health, gut health, immune health, and even brain health! Some vets believe that this is the most important supplement of them all!

How to use it?
Depending on the packaging, you will receive Omega 3’s in a capsule or liquid form. The label will clarify the exact servings. A rough estimate for serving sizes are: Capsules- one gel per every 20 pounds of body weight each day and Liquid form: ½ teaspoon for every 20 pounds. We suggest giving them their dose with either breakfast or dinner, as some pups can have a bit of an upset stomach if they eat it without food. You can either wrap these gels in your dog’s favorite treat, or you can even squirt the supplement directly over your little one’s food. Whatever works best for your little one!

Paw Balm

What is it?
You and I rely on shoes to protect our feet as we maneuver through life, but our dogs just have their paw pads! While their paw pads are covered by a thick layer of pigmented skin, this protective layer is not indestructible. That’s why we need to do everything possible to keep their paw pads healthy. Paw balm is a wonderful way to not only treat dry and cracked paws in our little ones, but to also protect their paws from environmental elements. Using paw balm regularly can strengthen the tissue on their paw pads, prevent cracks that can easily become infected, and even act as a protective layer for warm and cold surfaces.

How to use it?
When it comes to paw balm, a little bit goes a long way! If your dog’s paws appear healthy and crack free, we suggest applying a thin layer to their paws between 4 to 5 times a week. If your little one is already struggling with dry or damaged paws, we suggest using the balm twice daily until you see an improvement. Once their paw health improves, you can then switch to the maintenance application of 4 to 5 times per week.

Vetted Paw Wipes

What is it?
Our dog’s coats and paws are like a magnet for microscopic plant material and potential allergens. These materials can cling to their body each time they go outside, leading to skin irritation for some sensitive pups. This is especially true for dogs that struggle with allergies to plant material, as they might be walking through their allergen each time they go for a walk.

The Vetted Paw Wipes in your health kit will allow you to wipe their paws after each walk in effort to remove any allergens that could have clung to the surface of their paw pads. You can also give their body a quick wipe down as well, as some of these allergens may have also clung to their fur. In addition to eliminating allergic reactions, these wipes can come in handy if your little one has stepped in something unsanitary!

How to use it?
Just remove a wipe from the package and gently rub your dog’s paw. Be sure to get in between their paw pads as well, as this is where a lot of irritation can occur. Use daily if you have a particularly sensitive pup, or just keep them on hand in case your little one walks through any messes.

Kwik Stop

What is it?
Well trimmed nails are essential for keeping your dog pain free with each step they take. Overgrown nails in dogs can increase the risk of nail injuries, put pressure on their paws when they walk, and they can even scratch their pet parents when they excitedly greet them.

We want you to feel confident as you are cutting your dog’s nails, and this is why we include Kwik Stop in each skin and grooming kit. Even when you are a skilled nail cutter and try to avoid your dog’s quick (the cuticle within the nail that contains your dog’s nerves and blood vessels that’s located just above the curve of the nail) accidents can still happen. Sometimes their quick will start to bleed, and that’s where Kwik Stop comes in! A layer of Kwik Stop on their minor nail bleeding should not only stop the bleeding, but it will also help to relieve any pain.

How to use it?You can apply Kwik Stop to your dog’s nail by either applying a generous layer to the bleeding tip with a cotton applicator, or even dipping your dog’s nail into a small pile of the Kwik Stop. Just be sure to keep the Kwik Stop on their nail for at least 10-15 seconds, and to limit any excessive activity in the 30 minutes that follow.

Ear Cleanser

What is it?
You can’t ignore your dog’s ears when it comes to a well rounded grooming routine. Our little ones' ears can fill with wax and trap potential irritants, and this can be a breeding ground for bacteria. This is especially true for dogs that suffer from environmental allergies, as the constant inflammation on their skin can lead to bacterial growth in the ears as well. This is why we include an ear cleanser in your Vetted Skin and Grooming Kit!

An ear cleansing routine in your dog can help to remove any wax buildup, remove harmful debris, and even limit bacterial growth within the ear. You can clean your dog’s ears anywhere from a few times a week to a few times a month based on how prone they are to ear infections. If you are unsure of how often to clean your dog’s ears, you can reach out to our Vetted Vet Pros on the app for guidance!

How to use it?
You can clean your dog’s ears by squirting a small amount of the ear cleansing liquid into your dog’s ear canal. You can then squish your dog’s ear around a bit until you hear a whooshing sound, as this means you are successfully breaking up the bad stuff! Once you’ve done this, we suggest using a cotton ball or cotton wool to remove the leftover wax and to dry out the ear. Be sure to avoid the use of cotton swabs, as this can damage your little one’s ears.

Another option in cleaning their ears is to gently soak the solution on a cotton ball and place the cotton ball inside your pup's ears. Then you massage the ear canal for 10 seconds each so that the liquid goes through the ear canal properly. We are so happy that you have taken the steps to promote your little one’s skin and coat health! Don’t forget to reach out to our Vetted Vet Pros on the app if you have any questions about the products, or if you need any additional direction!
