Get to know your Vetted Digestive Health Kit

Welcome to your vetted DIGESTIVE CARE kit!

This kit was built to pave the way for a healthier digestive future for your little one. Many of us are unaware of just how important of a role the gut plays in our dog’s overall health. A healthy gut in dogs can help to absorb nutrients properly, use their food as fuel each day, and it can even support a strong immune system.

Our team at Vetted wants your pup to have the digestive tools needed to live their healthiest life, so we created a Digestive Care Kit that offers just that. Sometimes our little ones encounter health complications or stress that can alter the balance within their gut, and we want you to be equipped with an action plan when this happens.

Now that you have your Digestive Kit in hand, let’s break down the details of each item so you can feel as confident as possible with each use!

Probiotics

What is it?
Just like you and I, our dogs have a delicate balance of friendly bacteria that live within their digestive tract. These microbes assist with digestion, they fight off foreign pathogens, and they even support your dog’s immune system. When your dog’s digestive system is balanced and healthy, their gut has everything it needs to thrive.

As we mentioned above, the balance of friendly bacteria in their gut is fragile. Their healthy gut flora can be thrown off when they eat food outside of their diet, when they take antibiotics, and even if they are stressed about changes in their environment. This can lead to symptoms like diarrhea and stomach discomfort, and this is where your probiotics come in!

Probiotics can help to restore the balance of bacteria within your dog’s gut. Bad bacteria can take over when the digestive system is compromised in any way, so probiotics will send friendly bacteria to the scene and get everything back in order.

How to use it?
One of the best things about probiotics is how simple they are to use! Just sprinkle one package of probiotic powder onto your dog’s food once a day until their upset stomach resolves. You can either leave the powder as is or mix it into their food, but this is entirely up to your dog’s preference. If you received probiotic treats instead of a power, just feed them the probiotics like a treat. Make sure to read the back to ensure the quantity is accurate!  Most dogs do just fine but some dogs can have an upset stomach or a bit of gas while their body gets accustomed to the probiotics. If your pet has a sensitive stomach, try to give them ½ a dose to slowly get them accustomed to it.

Routine Dog Stool Test

What is it?
If something ever seems ‘off’ with your little one’s stool, we have included a routine dog stool test to get to the bottom of their symptoms! This test allows you to collect a sample of your dog’s stool, send it directly to the lab from your home, and receive easy to read results by email. We will even go over the results with you, so there will be no question about what’s going on with your dog’s poop.

The My Simple Pet Lab Stool Test screens for everything your vet would be on the hunt for during a microscopic stool exam. This test searches for roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, whipworms, giardia, and coccidia. You can even upgrade your dog’s test once it's at the lab to look for other causes of GI upset like bacterial infections.

The routine dog stool test is not only essential for helping your dog feel their best, but it can also keep everyone else in the home safe! Some intestinal parasites and bacteria can be spread to other pets in your home, and some can even be passed on to humans. By catching these issues from the moment they develop, everyone is protected!

How to use it?
Each test kit comes with instructions on how to collect your dog’s sample, gloves for sample collection, a sample test tube, a biohazard bag for their sample tube, and a return envelope to ship your dog’s sample to the lab with ease. The results of your dog’s stool test will be emailed to you within one day of lab arrival, and we can help you interpret the results and whether or not your pup needs to see the vet for treatment.

We are so happy that you have taken the steps to promote your little one’s digestive health, and we know your pet will thank you in an abundance of kisses and cuddles.
